Rusty6 has a good post below. I think we can all agree that most of us on here are hard working farm people. Would you take a job on that farm running an 830 12 hours a day all spring and fall?

In a heart beat....well, at my age maybe one shift. I have 2 830's, they were super nice back in the day.

In the 1970's I owned JD "R's"....and yes farmed.....
I'm not about to operate / run JD 830's 12 hour days..........

I've been there done that!

Bob... Gas Turbine / Power Engineer Retired and love it....:)

Lot of guys did that because those tractors were the latest and greatest. That’s all they knew and if they were like my great grandpa who started with horses and ended on a 4020, an 830 was a luxury. Me on the other hand, if I could somehow make a living farming the homestead (300 acres) with nothing but late 50s equipment I would do it in a heartbeat. Heck I would do it on 600 acres.

Without a second thought as long as the tractors were red:) Only want to make enough to do it again the following year. I wouldn't mind adding in 40 cows to milk as well!

About two weeks ago I ran a 4430 about 6 hours for a friend. I would run a 2 cyl for about 5 or 6 hours if the implement was simple. but I am 83 years old

I wouldn't mind running a few hours in the 830 Special....

well i have have been running my 660 this fall with no cab and cold as heck this october. i sure dont stay out there for 12 hrs. either. i really prefer the no cab in summer though as long as wind is blowing the right direction and dont get so black. i am old school all the way. and in spring time hrs. are longer. i will take my 660 over an 830 , but i do like the sound of them though.
