Autel maxiscan how to use?

So I bought this small scanner with the intention of resetting a code in my car. Do i plug it into the connector first and then turn the key on to apply power?

Didn't instructions come with it, or is it a used one? If you don't have the user manual, Autel has manuals for many, may be all, of their scanners available free on line. Just search Autel Maxiscan plus your model number and I expect you can find the manual for yours and have the proper info to operate with.

I expect it will tell you the ignition should be off when plugging it in, but that is a guess. I would find the manual rather guess or collect random answers if it were mine. JMHO

My grand son just plugs his in and has me to turn the key on. I myself have never used it. HTH

If instructions came with it, read them!

That being said, on all the ones I've used you plug them in, you turn the ignition on but don't start the engine, and then follow the prompts on the scanner screen.

Depending on the unit's age and level of sophistication, on some you have to scroll and enter the make, model, and year of the vehicle, others recognize the vehicle on their own.

Just follow the prompts.
