He forgot to tell me to bring my trailer.

A Mennonite called me this morning and asked me to go get a man basket for him. He neglected to mention it is 16 feet wide. Good thing I have a 9 foot bed.

Good for you! I enjoy helping Amish and/or Mennonites since they help so many other folks. We have quite a few in counties near Wichita.

The old fashioned lumber yard used to deliver 16 ft by 8 ft 4 and 5 ft tall hog shades on the back of a
'67 Chevy C-30 with 8 ft flatbed. Strap it down tight on the front. They had 2x6's across the bed for
the shade to sit on. Guy my Dad drove for hauling livestock was their driver. He'd get the shade where
the farmer wanted it and release the strap and the rear dropped to the ground, then he'd pull forward.
Besides the big hog shades we made LOTS and LOTS of modified A hog houses. I could take a pile of
dimension lumber, pressure treated 2x6's, assembled ends, and several sheets of CDX 3/8" plywood cut to
size and in about 15 minutes I'd have a completed and painted hog house. The truck could haul 6 or 8 of
those per load. The lumber yard used to have a bigger truck, C-60 size, 14 or 16 ft bed but it needed
work so they sold it.

Just a FYI the legal overhang on the back is 4 Foot unless it is a 53 foot trailer then it becomes 0. Also the tail lights must be visible under the load.
