Computer issue only with YT?

Here's the deal- the only way I can get YT to come up on my laptop (Win 10) is to start a new session, stop it before it gets to my home page (a local news site) and hit the bookmark for YT. This just started a month or so ago. I'm sure it's some setting, but I have no idea where to look. I use CCleaner every couple weeks and dump all the cookies and history, etc. and then do a restart. It's not a huge deal, but I don't have a clue where to look to fix it.

What URL are you using for your bookmark? What happens if you type that URL into the address bar?

It probably has something to do with the page you use as your home page. Have you tried changing it to a blank page?

You don't say what browser you're using, but pretty much all up-to-date browsers support tabbed browsing. If you turn that on, you can start a new blank tab while leaving your home page up. Once you've used tabbed browsing, you'll wonder how you ever got by without it.

If you go to Agtalk or NewAgTalk" becareful. I have a very good virus checker but AgTalk reset my home page (so not technically a virus, just a nasty action taken) to show their logo on a black screen and every new tab (on Chrome) started with that logo, not just a new browser session. I had to manually fix my home screen and a couple other settings and will never go back there.

Couple questions -- What browser are you using? Have you tried any other browser? And when you say you have to start a new session, you mean you have to log in again?

If the last one is 'yes', sounds like a cookies setting has become changed.

I'm using the latest version of Firefox. It doesn't matter if it's my home page or any other page, I have to do the same thing. The URL I use is "https://forums.yesterdaystractors.com" I don't use any other browser and have no desire to use Chrome or any other browsers. I'll live with it before I do that, same as I refuse to use Google itself and only grudgingly use You Tube. Ya got to set limits on the tracking and spying IMO.

Have been looking over CCleaner. Geez, I remember when it was a simple program. Now it's more like any other "internet security" program, with tons of options to choose from.

Is it possible that:
1. CCleaner has updated and made a settings change that deletes your login info before you log out of FF?

2. you accidentally clicked a setting that deletes your login info before you're done?

The more I think about it, the less this sounds like something from FF and more like something from CCleaner. Thing is, if you have other security programs (excuse me.....APPS!!) besides CCleaner, then it could be any one of them that has enacted a settings change, whether by updated default of the program or by an accidental 'click' by the user.

Unrelated to your issue but I had a simpler issue with e-mail links. Look's like a good thread to share it on. Just added information, I have no intentions of derailing your post.

Bret, I'm running Firefox 81.0.2 on Linux. I have no problem opening that URL, whether I go to another site first or open it from an empty tab. The bookmark I use is "http://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/boards.cgi", which is the URL for "classic" YT. So I don't know what's causing your problem.

So you can't open the forum URL even from a BLANK page? (Go to Edit->Preferences->Home and set New Windows and Tabs to "Blank Page".)

What, EXACTLY, happens when you try to access the page by any other means than put on a tinfoil hat, face north-northwest, stand on your left leg, wiggle your right pinky finger, and chant "wugga wugga wugga?"

Does it just not load? Does it give you an error message? What is the error message?

Have you actually tried any other pages?

JMHO but I would dump CC cleaner as it can remove too much at times and lead to problems such as the one you are having.

it will only remove what you tell it to remove, so knowing what the different settings do is kind of important.
just like controls on a new tractor, you need to learn what each one does

It just sits there trying to load until it times out. Only happens with YT as far as I can tell. My password and what not is saved. I can go to other pages but not YT. Weird.

I wonder if it's an issue with your ISP. Maybe DNS isn't working correctly.

Tried Marks suggestion of starting a new tab. Seems to work. Thanks guys.
