tractor stalling

I have an 861 ford tractor. It runs great for about 15 to 29 min, then stops running. When it stops it acts like its out of gas.I check the sediment bowl and it's full of gas. I opened the bolt on the bottom of the carburetor and gas comes out. I tried running it with the gas cap off and and it still stops. I tried running it with the air cleaner off and it stops running in 3 min. Can anyone help me figure out why this is happing ?

Do some simple trouble shooting.
go out and run it till it dies.
Check spark as soon as it dies and make sure you have a good blue/white spark that will jump a 1/4 inch gap or more
#2 pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow that will fill a pint jar in less then 3 minutes and 2 is even better. And yes catch the gas to make sure it does not have water/dirt etc. in it.

Post back what you find for more help

Some ford tractors have a small filter attached to the elbow that goes in the carburetor that the gas line runs into. Just an idea.

If it s the still has the original style fuel line there’s a rubber
section in the line that allows it to flex so you can get the
fittings connected, that rubber could be failing internally can
acting like a check valve. This happened on my uncles Ford
841.

Exhaust intake gasket leak .While running at idle, spray short burst of ether at gasket in various areas . An increase in RPM would indicate gasket failure.CM

When you took the drain out of the bottom of the carb you tested for presence of gas, now you need to check for flow as old described. I have experienced a coil failure as Bruce described. It is very difficult to verify, but it can be narrowed down by checking for spark IMMEDIATELY after stopping as old described.

I had a similar problem with a Ford 600. It was the vitron float valve. They had a problem with these
back in the day.

I suggest replacing the coil also. I had that happen to me 35 years ago about drove me nuts until in desperation I changed the coil. In the years since I have come across 3 or 4 people that had the same problem.
