Kubota L245 - Anyone have one?

A friend of mine is looking at selling a L245DT with loader and 4x4. He offered to sell it to me for $3k. The tractor has 1,183 original hours and he is the second owner - has wonder it for 20 years. Rear tires are new. The bucket pins are not greaseable and are shot but that is all that is wrong. Lights all work, has 3 speed PTO, front end was rebuilt 5 years old as were the loader pistons. I drove it and it runs good, started good cold, runs through all the gears without any noise and brakes work.

Anyone have any experience with these? I am a JD guy but this would fit nicely on our small farm.

When working on a golf course 37 years ago we had one. It was 2wd and did not have a loader. It was a good little tractor. Always a bit of a crap shoot buying a 40+ year
old tractor, but if I were you I would seriously consider buying it unless your "friend" is really asking top dollar for it. Your friend owned it for 20 years so he knows
it inside and out. Dunno where you live but in many arreas of the country little 4WD tractors with loaders are sought after pieces (so much so that I had one stolen right
off my barn floor). Id move fast if you think it is marked at a "fair" price.

That is what they call a deal of a
lifetime.those little tractors go for
around 5 or 6 grand.If you can afford,do
not even think of anything but sealing
the deal, especially since you know it was
taken care of and has really low hours on
it.

I've had one for 43 years since it was new. They are good tractors and that is a great price. If the front end was rebuilt that means that the
seals failed, it was ignored and the gears were damaged. Fix any front end seal immediately if it leaks. Don't ask how I know that. Mine has
3600 hours and still runs great. I'm one my third water pump and third hour meter cable. All else seems good.

I have been selling KUBOTAS for over 35 years, and the L 245 is really one of the better older
tractors. In my part of the country it is 2000 cheap, the L245HC or high crop offset tractor version
of that tractor is also sought after. I did not look at your location but if you buy it for 3 you
will not have any problem getting your money back if you do not like it.

I wouldn't hesitate for that price if its what you say it is. If nothing else you can resell it and make a few bucks.

Tach does not work so I will get a new cable. He has a receipt for a water pump about 4 years ago. Hasn't put many hours on it since.

So I ended up buying it. I had cash in hand but instead we worked out a deal where I can pay over the next month because I helped haul a few implements that came with their new to them Kubota.

Anyways used the tractor a bit yesterday and it runs like a top. Everything works except the tach. It's funny though because the hour meter works. Hoping it is just a cable.

My wife even commented it was one of my better tractor "deals". My son likes it because its a diesel and my daughter can safely reach the clutch and drive it. Out of 5 tractors now I "own" none of them according to my family. I better go drag one out of the weeds so I can call one mine.
