Autumn in Norfolk, England

Just a few of the pumpkins we have managed to get off our very wet land. Some I have to roll onto the transport box as I can no longer lift them. We also grow Uchiki Kuru, Spaghetti Marrows and Turks Turban squashes which are good eating roasted. Do not have too much success with Butternut Squashes but we do have a good crop of Autumn Crown Squashes which is a round version of the butternut.

The box is on the back of a Fordson Major E1ADKN (1952) just to keep it tractor related.

We are also getting a lot of mushrooms in the garden this year, have not tried eating or smoking them yet though. :0)

It has become more popular in the last few years. These pumpkins are for carving we grow another variety for eating. Five years ago we had a great trade with garden centres and gate sales but now super markets have sucked it all up.

Very few people eat pumpkins or squashes over here. We supplied a local restaurant for some years who had a great chef who served squash as a second vegetable on the plate, He said it was always the one left untouched.

Great photos, I like the variety of colors. The pumpkin pics would make good subject for puzzles which are popular on this site.

Vegetarian, yum. I don't have to say, do your research on the mushrooms. I have a Major and a Dexta. Dexta my father drove home new in 61, both diesels.

Butternut squash is my favorite but I usually get it at the supermarket frozen. Microwave with butter. I remember the other types of garden squash but none were as good as butternut.

The Turk's Turban is one of my favourites that we grow here in SE BC. We ate a lot of squash growing up, and I still enjoy it. unc
