Tractor ride tomorrow

I'm looking forward to the Hill Country tractor club's (Fredericksburg) fall ride tomorrow. Their rides are always fun even if the weather doesn't cooperate. The weather this year will be nice if a little
warm. And always great BBQ. See you there!

The club is based in Fredericksburg TX. They've done a spring "bluebonnet" ride for years. This is the first fall ride as far as I know.

Enjoy your day! I have a short family tractor ride Sunday afternoon with a hot dog roast when we get back. Here in Indiana the trees are changing color and weather will be just over 70 degrees. This afternoon I put another 55 miles on, over 4,200 miles so far this year. Not sure if I'm nuts or dedicated..

I will have pictures. Y'all be safe driving into Austin. You'll pass about 1/2 mile from my house on I 35.

We’re headed out to go to one in southern Illinois. Supposed to run about 30 miles between the Illinois and Mississippi rivers, eat lunch and then cross the Illinois River on a ferry, ride around a bit more, come back on the ferry and call it a day. Good weather too.

That sure looks like fun. One of my favorite parts of Texas. If I could get there could I rent a tractor. Maybe next year.

That looks interesting, would you tell us what all you have going there. With that small of tires how are you getting speed.

It's a Ford 6000 Commander engine/SOS transmission bolted to an early 4000 row crop rear end. Chevy C-10 pickup front clip for suspension, two more brakes and MUCH better power steering. The smaller rear 11.2R X 24 BKT tires to slow it down some. In eighth gear 1000 RPM is ten MPH, 1500 is 15, etc. Ninth gear works well for 15-16 MPH rides as engine is running about 900 RPM with 1800 RPM at 32 MPH. Tenth gear 1500 RPM is about 40 MPH. Ninth gear is my favorite as it's direct through the transmission. Crazy thing gets about 25 MPG in ninth gear, better than my diesel pickup..

We have learned to take 21 out of San Marcos and to 183 to the airport. A lot less traffic and easier to stop for gas for the rental car. Looking good for both a tractor drive and a flight home.
