International 574 3pt issue

I have a 574 ih that I am working on for 3pt lift issue. The man it belongs to states that when he has his rotary mower hooked up the 3pt will just drop sometimes. I have-not actually seen it do this and I mentioned to him about the draft lever but he assures me that he hasn't touched it when letting mower up or down. He thinks it is a pump problem, but pump doesn't seem to be under a load and steering works fine. I have a light weight implement attached now that weighs roughly 300# and it will hold it up all day long with no problems. I was wondering if there was any way to check pressure on pump and what it should be just to eliminate the pump from being the problem.

Hi, dose he operate the rotary mower with the Draft control all the way forward?
You can check pump pressure by putting a 3,000 PSI gauge on one of the remote hydraulic outlets and pull the remote lever, should be about 2100 to 2500 PSI at about 1800 RPM.
If the lift cylinder was leaking it would go down slowly when engine is OFF or hiccup when engine is running.
Is the 3PT Lever control very easy to move? Has the friction washer on the 3PT lever control become loose?

You can follow the Manual 574 for link to Operator and Service Manual for the 74 Series tractors.
Note: These are the European manuals and the 74 series tractors that were assembled in Louisville, KY, USA are slightly different in power steering, wiring and remote hydraulic plumbing but most internal
things are the same.

As Jimb said the remote will give you the pressure and should be close to 2500 on the 574. It is in the draft levers. Probably catching it with a coat tail or bumping it when he goes to use the lift lever. Since the steering and such is working it is not the pump unless he is low on oil or plugged filter.

Pulled the filter and it looks pretty well plugged like it has never been changed. I am going to install new filter and check pressure at remotes. Hopefully that is all that is wrong.
