Left hip surgery

Went into the hospital at 6:30 yesterday morning and was in the operating room by 7:45. Stayed overnight and got home at about 4:30 this afternoon. There is no pain from the hip other than some small amount of pain from my thigh where they dislocated my hip, I suppose. The Surgeon says he will do the right one in 3 months so I should be ready for hay season next year. If it continues to feel this way then I'm gonna be awfully anxious to get the right one fixed but I know there will be some pain this week after the numbness in the incision wears off. I begin my physical therapy in the morning at 9:00

Good for you, glad it went well. The third day will be the tougher period but I know you will be OK. Active people heal faster.

Thanks for the update. Keep us informed on your progress. My wife had a hip replacement last Thur. In hospital 6 AM, surgery at 8, discharged at 5 PM. Hugh scar of about 8 in. Short in-hospital therapy about 4 PM. This is day 5 post surgery, her worst day yet. She quit the Tramadol thinking it was causing the bowel problems. Hope all goes well with you.

2X what John Garner said. I used only 1/3 of the pain killer that was prescribed but it still took two weeks to get my digestion back to normal.

Good deal! I'm to strong headed to take the stool softener. Right away that is! Strong headed aint smart. Over two months before I would start getting interrupted on my second morning cup of coffee without the softener, after my last shoulder surgery.

You're doing well! My right hip was done two years ago.
My surgeon didn't prescribe physical therapy but I'd go if it was prescribed.
The only surprise I got was the loss of balance. The surgeon did warn me about it
but it still surprised me. Apparently there are some nerves that get cut or damaged
in the hip surgery and affect how your balance works.

Steve, my wife and I have been doing exercises for balance for 6-7 years.
