Fall Plowing.

Well after trying to start plowing 2 weeks ago and finding the ground way too dry, I went at it again today. The 2" of rain since then made a difference. I have about 500A to plow this fall. The cousin still has 60A of beans to finish combining when and if, they dry down again, before starting corn, and then about 200A of corn to harvest. I am plowing oat ground at present. Weather is supposed to be nice tomorrow, but more rain Wed and Thursday. That shouldn't stop me from plowing the rest of the week.------Loren

You’re condemned to the bubble tractor again? That sure is a pretty job of plowing. Way better than what i had we could use about 2 inches of rain if we could get it

Looks like its working Nicer now for sure,, I see you have the "other" one on the plow,, no sense in wearing out the 930 on all that ground when you can use the farms and they are buying the fuel so no worries there lol what am I seeing at the last bottom, is the coulter not set quite right? looks like you are leaving a ribbon of soild there making your furough wall break at times or is it just the soil/conditions? That also explains why you never answered your phone today lol

Tom the plow has an 11Lx15 tail wheel and tire off a wagon, and it's offset is wrong and kicks up the sod on the furrow wall.---------------------Loren

I waited on planting wheat until we got some moisture as the seedbed was dry to the point of being chunky in spots. Things were ready to roll by Friday of this past week. I have more to do and hope to be done with wheat later in the week. Soybeans are very uneven in ripening as emergence was very uneven this past spring.

At my age I am very content to enjoy all the comforts of modern tractors, along with lots of HP, power shift tranny and MFD.----------------------Loren

Boy I hear ya. The first few hours on any tractor is ok, but by day two, operator comfort becomes a bigger issue. And with the number of acres you are about to drag that plough through, you deserve all the comfort available. How many acres do you get to a set of plough shares ?

Hey Loren--You need to get cover-boards--In the last pic you aren't getting good coverage on the Seagulls--LOOKS GOOD---Tee

Looks good Loren, if i had time and there was room in the cab, i stop over and ride a few passes with you! 😂

I get from 30 to maybe 60A out of a set of shears. Depends on what field I am plowing. A lot of the fields have a lot of limestone bedrock and chips and they ware the shears quickly, and that doesn't count when the shear catches a ledge and gets broken.-------Loren
