Have not seen a New Idea Uni system for a while . It would appear that New Idea disappeared in the 1993 merger into Agco .

They are interesting machines to say the
least... we pick with a 702 Uni with 2-
row header and 726 husking bed. Today's
problem was getting brittle stalks to
feed in (drought damaged corn does funny
things). The corn stover is so dry that
it bunches up at the upper end of the
snapping rolls. We're taking in a lot of
trash, and the husks are too dry to pull
off nicely. We should have been picking
several days ago, but wanted to combine
beans instead. We picked a crib full
today, and will combine the rest of this
field of corn.

Those New Idea pickers do very well in
corn between 20% to 30% moisture. They'll
shell bad at the header and husking bed
in dry corn.

You'll gain a whole new set of skills
repairing a Uni...

Good luck!

Huh,
Picker autocorrected to pucker. I guess it could have been an autocorrect of a nother word, but it wasn't.

Tom,

I'll see you tomorrow when you show up with your 300 to help me finish this. I hope your picker can reach my 10' tall wagons :) Also, bring an elevator so we can top off the wagons. I got it running again. It has an electric shutoff solenoid in the line right by the dip tube. Turn the key on, it clicks, turn the key off, it clicks. I primed it again and got it running. maybe I can knock off more than three acres tomorrow...

I thought YOU were the one who "autocorrected" it to that word instead of the other one!
