Of hay. Cut on Sunday afternoon. No rain in forecast. Tropical storm decided to come this way. One field dried nice and got baled. The other was taller and thicker it wasn't dry. Will bale it next week. Construction or fall decorations hay.

Howdy, have got 3 1/2 inches so far today. Seems about over. Would say it has fell decent. Planted 1/2 acre of turnips Monday. Should pop them right out. They are purple tops but are for the deer this winter.

Send anything extra up to the Dakotas, we are dry and are looking for some fall rains. We had the wettest year ever recorded in 2019. Unfortunately we are now less than 75% of average rainfall for this time of year so far-lots of inches below normal. If we didn't have good sub-soil moisture from last year, our crops would be in real trouble.

For the past 5 years in my back yard, any hay with only one rain on it Would be considered excellent.

By about the 5th rain, or the 5th inch whichever comes first, you have to start discounting the quality a little.....

So sick of rain.......

Funny thing is we are suppose to be below average rain fall This year but all my prime pheasant hunting sloughs are full of water this year. Most falls they are bone dry. We have lots of hay to sell. 3 cutting of alfalfa.

From here till December you can have all we are supposed to get. Plenty of moisture to get wheat up and not muddy so lets keep it that way this fall. I'm so tired of mudding things out in the fall. Been that way for the last 5or6 years now. The combine thinks it is a buggie or something.

Some guys have all the luck!! My buddy does a brisk business every year at this time selling mulch hay for $10.00 a bale for lawn decorations.

Back when we camped, when the owner of the campground would mow hay, we would look for rain. Never failed, I think he thought it had to be washed for it to be baled. One year he let the Amish put his hay up and they never got a drop on it. Kinda made him feel bad so he let them put it up every cutting after that. We didn't know whether to look for rain or plan on enjoying a few days of good boating weather. This year it was so dry that I'm finally putting up my 2nd cutting and I should be completely done by now but I still have about 7 acres to mow next week. (supposed to get rain Tuesday now, it was Sunday then Monday probably won't get any at all) Our 2nd cutting is only producing less than half of what it should be but we should have enough if people quit buying it out of the field but I sure won't have any to sell at this rate. Oh well, it could be a lot worse so I'm happy to get it done before my hip surgery.
