Tractor jump out of gear while on road. What could cause this Also the 3ph won't lift up. It has the powersshift transmission. I've cleaned the line strainer and found some brown stuff like cardboard.

It has to be turned off and back on again before it'll go into gear

Hello nh5600 welcome to YT! Sorry can’t help you
with your problem. There is a John Deere topic

recommend posting on New AgTalk forum ..see link...
a lot more viewing traffic there and many

They don't just jump out of gear for one thing,, and the stuff you found in the screen is most likely brake lining. Start it up and slowly go through each gear and tell us which ones fail...there is much more to this story..

well that inst actually jumping out of gear. Ive seen it and experienced this before. There is a Priority valve (JD has some fancy name) and it will do what your saying when it gets low pressure or flow.

Now its time to dig deeper.. Drain the trans (both plugs if its MFWD) change the filters (use the clean up filters jd offers), and pull the suction tube and clean/replace it. Refill with clean oil. THIS IS A TEMPORARY FIX, IT NEEDS TO BE TORN DOWN AND FIXED...

What is this tractor used for?? I've seen ones that get a lot of hard Pto work (Big Baler - Feed Mixers) have this problem (PTO brake and/or Pto clutches)
I have also seen them with loaders on them and the brake lining come apart and do it too..

FYI when I drain one I put the front wheels up on Railroad ties.. helps get a better drain. Also take some wire and reach in thru the rear drain plug and fish out some of the bigger chunks save them to show to the mechanic..
