A cheap engraver

Thought of an idea while baling ane my lights kept getting dimmer and dimmer if i had a cheap engraver I could scretch the date of purchase into and place of purchase on the housing of an alternator starter so i could get warranty replacement easier. Decided id crawl off the tractor and see why the alternator wasn’t charging turned out i had forgot to hook the alternator output wire that goes to the batteries up

We have a silo in a pasture next to the barn and leave a tractor hooked to the blower till the silo is full, so at night the cows would sometimes pull a couple wires, alt wires were handy for them! Then the 3020 gas we used on the little box spreader cleaning the gutter they would pull some plug wires also! lol

Yep, Cows motto chew it off or scratch on it until it breaks off.

Look at harbor freight, believe they sell a cheap engraver.
Somewhat related, Dad likes to take the receipt for a car/tractor battery and then place in a zip lock and tape to the battery-that way the battery and receipt stay together, regardless of what machine the battery ends up in. Usually only 1 year warranty, so no issues with tape letting go,

Horses will take a bite out of your plastic upholstered seat if they get a chance, as well as drag their teeth across painted surfaces just to get a taste. I NEVER leave a tractor in a horse pasture unattended, even just to get lunch.

I have an electric engraver identical to this one that belonged to my dad. It would work but if your dealer was anything like mine they wouldn't trust you. They look up the records of when it was bought. I had an alternator go out on a tractor in the hay field. Took it off and made a quick trip for another. It was 3 days past the warranty. Paid full price but at least they had one and I could finish.

Some parts places are pretty good some aren’t the local crappa is the worst but they have the most parts on hand
