Case SC cylinder head

Anyone have a good Case SC cylinder head that has no cracks or warpage? Don't say ask Don Livingston, I already tried, he has none that aren't cracked or warped. Thanks all.

I think there was a couple on eBay in the last few days. I thought I was going to have to find one a few months ago, but I ended up having mine
checked over and rebuilt. It was $350, but it sure runs nice now. Worth it to me.

I bought a good guaranteed head for my C
last winter from Robert's. Very reasonable
too

Warped and cracked. Spider web cracking throughout. So I bought a new one that I was told was guaranteed against warpage and cracks. When I took it to the machine shop, they found cracks in 2 different places where repairs are impossibly expensive or just not doable. So here I am.

The one I bought from Roberts was guaranteed too. And when I got it and took it to the machinist, it was both warped and cracked. When I called them they gave me the worst runaround I've ever heard. I was told that people make mistakes and I can either roll with the punches and get it repaired, or spend a lot more somewhere else for a perfect one. Even though theirs were guaranteed against cracks and warpage. They are liars. It was a pathetic experience. Waste of time. Especially when I waited 3 weeks for them to get back in touch with me. And when they did, they said that they had 2 more to test, if neither were good, they would let me know and refund my money. Instead, they kept my money and sent me a 100 pound cast iron brick that is useless. Come to find out, the machinist who did the crack check on it did NOT check the entire head for cracks, which is BOGUS. It took my machinist literally 2 minutes to find the first set of cracks and an additional 30 seconds to discover 6 thousandths warpage. They actually had the guts to call me, fully knowing they screwed up, and demanded to speak with my machinist. Needless to say, my machinist, who has over 40 years experience, kindly put them in their place. Most pathetic buying experience ever. I mean that too. I get that even the most seasoned professional can make a mistake sometimes, but the discourse I ended up having with the customer service at Roberts Tractor was uncalled for and unreasonable at bare minimum.......

Holy cow. I must have got lucky then, because I had my local machine shop check it and it was good. Sorry you had a bad experience with them. I don't have a phone number but there's a place in I think it's DeSoto Missouri, Mike's Tractor Parts who might have one.

Yeah, count yourself lucky. I placed trust in them, I really did. I was hoping they would fix me right up with a good one, but nope. On to the next though. Thanks for the tip though. I'll look them up. Take care.

Where are you located? Seems case S heads and other parts a fairly common here in eastern Washington unless you are looking for the higher
compression gas head. Are the SC heads commonly cracked? I have six or seven SC’s here and have parted out a few more and don’t recall a head
problem, usually find the dual fuel manifold rusted away though. If you are close you are welcome to come see if I have one that will help you out, Mike

It seems like there is a flaw on the way they did their castings, because the the second head I bought was cracked in the same exact location as the old one. And every head that Roberts Tractor had had the same issues. I guess I'm not sure if my head is high compression or not. However, I can say that it's a gas tractor with a gas manifold. What is the difference?

I don’t remember the number exactly from memory but the higher compression head I believe ends with 17, perhaps 5617 vs 5616 for the lower compression head. I will double check for you today.
