GPS Guidance System Recommendations?

Good day!

Looking for recommendations on a GPS guidance system that would be adequate for seeding & spraying purposes. Our seeding entails nothing fancy, just planting cereals and grasses / legumes with a 15' no-till drill. Spraying will most likely just be terminating existing hay stands and pre-seed burn off.

Main thing I'm looking to accomplish is reducing overlap without breaking the bank.

Any advice would be appreciated.

TIA

Second the Trimble Ez Guide 250. Do exactly what you do and being no 'gamer' upgraded from the screen/lightbar only to the bottle steering motor and am very happy. Can fit to older cab tractors either directly or with minor fabrication.

Go ahead and up grade to a steering motor. We plant and spray with one. I couldn't stay within 1 ft. More like 2ft. With the light bar alone. Will stay within 2" with steering motor.

Thanks to all for their feedback.

So, is the consensus that 1' - 2' accuracy is all that can be achieved by using the light bar alone?

I'm planning on installing this in a John Deere 4020 & the steering column is part of throttle so mounting a steering motor will require fabricating a standalone bracket.

A light bar takes some getting used to. If you look at the light bar all day you will go crazy and have crooked rows. You need to aim for a landmark across the field once you get turned and get the light bar centered. With the steering motor you flick a switch after you get turned and let the tractor steer itself. If you do get a used unit with auto steer try to get the instruction book along with it or get one online. Setting it up so it steers like you want it to can take some trial and error even with the book but once it is set up you won't run without it.
