Teen hunter run over by corn chopper

A 14-year-old hunter apparently fell asleep in a Michigan field before he was run over and killed by a corn chopper, police say.

A tragedy for sure, but there's more than likely much more to the story.

Those corn choppers are the largest in the industry and I'm sure the operator did not know the hunter was there until the next pass. Probably a good thing evidence wise and for the family that he was ran over, rather than being processed.

Sounds like he needed to have a better hunter education since one should never fall asleep when out hunting

Unless he was a "cows to milk farm" kid, how many 13 year olds wake up and are functioning at 4am???
Trucked out to sit at edge of field waiting for daybreak, trying all the time to be silent.
I can see a kid easily falling asleep again after reaching his post.
He may have also had any number of medical conditions known or unknown.
Bad news for all involved no matter why.

we once had an ambulance call for person hit by a train, it was a kid wearing head phones while walking down the RR tracks

Kansasredneck, fourteen foot tall corn with all the leaves, stalk, and ears does a very good job of blocking sound, and the choppers travel very quickly through the field.
