There has to be a reason for the Farmall M plowing with a chain on the land side wheel of the plow. I just don't know.

It's a manual trip plow....the wheel drives the lift and lowering mechanism, and sometimes will slide on mud or wet grass rather than lift the plow....so it's there for traction.

comment on chain on land wheel; Note that the tire on the land wheel is not a "cleated" [lugged] tire: the type that IHC would install from the factory. Having a "cleated" tire also known as lugged tire, like on the tractor, {only turned backwards}; this would normally provide drive under most land conditions.

The old and the new. Great bunch of older equipment and in the background, the wind farm.

I like the red truck in the background too. Any story or pictures of it?

Oliver 99?? When I first started farming on my own, many year ago, I had a 1951 Oliver 99 and a 1941 Farmall M. Both OK tractors at the time. We did a lot of plowing back then, had 3x16 behind them. Memories!!!
