i ve been reading some literature about the john deere 6030 tractors?
they seemed very big for their day,
does any one have any experiences with one?

they look very rugged, so any stories? good ,bad or ugly !

thanks

Seem like they are more popular now with collectors than they were in mid 70's when manufactured. I believe it was advertised as a 175HP tractor and not a huge amount of them made, maybe 4,000? Some may say the biggest advantage to them were that they were a great improvement over their underpowered ancestor, the 5020. Certainly considered one of the 'muscle tractors" of the 70's.

Yeah the 6030 was a good horse, the same engine as the 7520, but most were equipped with 20.8 x 38's with all the wheel weight's and fluid, a few guys had triples on them, there was no front wheel assist available, they eventially gave way to the all wheel drives!

Dad sold one used 6030 in the mid 80's. The next door neighbor bought it to pull a manure tanker. I ran it one day and was impressed as it sure was a step up and beyond from a 4020. Tom
