John Deere B no reverse

Hoping someone can help me figure this one out... My Deere B slowly quit shifting into reverse. We took the transmission apart and removed the flywheel side. It really seems like the reverse gear is very slightly too big to slide onto the drive gear. All the shafts feel tight so I dont think any bearings are out but dont understand why the gear teeth would now be hitting the drive gear. Thanks for any comments!

(quoted from post at 15:03:59 09/09/20) Broken shifter fork?
The shifting fork seems to work but when the reverse gear meets the drive gear, the sprocket teeth hit slightly preventing them from engaging. It's almost like the reverse gear is too large so it wont slide into place.

(quoted from post at 16:36:44 09/09/20) Bearing out or bad on the differential allowing it to drop down some??
When i grab the differential gear through the transmission top under the steering post, everything feels tight. If a bearing was going out, wouldnt I be able to move something with a pry bar? Thanks again for the help!

Shaft bearings (ends) can let the gears get closer. Use a real pry bar to budge the shafts (carefully) on each end to find the loose bearing. It is
not a hand movable type of motion. Jim

Try lifting one rear wheel off the ground to be sure there is nothing under load.

Turn the wheel while watching what is happening, pull the plugs and turn the engine too.

I ended up putting the tractor back together again because I needed to use it for some projects. At first, it acted the same and didnt want to go into reverse but after a little persuasion, it decided to go into reverse gear. I did a few projects and now it seems to slide into reverse again quite easily. Does this seem to imply that I have a bearing just slightly out? I'm thinking there may be just enough slop in the bearing that reverse occasionally binds but then it comes back into alignment and then works? Thanks again!
