Hello. I’m having some issues with my fuel gauge on my 2640. The fuel gauge is a brand new AL24294 and the sending unit is AT20912. I’ve got about 5 gauges that I’ve tried and they all register 1/4 of a tank. I’ve also got 2 brand new sending units. I’ve even tested the sending unit outside of the tank and all it will register is right out of the red barely into the green when the tank is full. Sending unit measures 30 Ohmns as it should. Thanks for any advice!!

Does it have a float type sending unit in the tank? I had one where the little float got stuck partway up and registered that level all the time.

It does, but I’ve tested the sender both outside of the tank and inside the tank with a wire. The float is all the way up and just register 1/4 of a tank.

Obviously the gauge and sending unit need to be matched for each other. If your using oem parts, that should be a given.

Other thought -
Since multiple sets register the same, maybe too much resistance in the circuit (ie: dirty / corrosion on connections or wires) ??

Need to use an ohm meter and check if the needle moves from the complete range on it. If so then I would check the gauge for working accurate. Either the sender part of the unit is not moving correctly or the gauge is not reading right. If your getting the same reading with different senders. I would suspect the gauge is the problem. Short the sender wire to ground and see if your gauge goes from one extreme to the other extreme. If it does then it sounds like a connection issue.
