One of those storms blew in here yesterday morning. Dropped the temps 35 to 40 degrees. Almost got the first frost. But we dodged it. 35 degrees. The forcast hinted it might fall to 31. My beans need more time, corn is far enough it wouldn't be hurt(much).Rained most of yesterday, the first rain in months. Some was hard driveing rain.Got 400 small bales on the ground. Would have been prime (grass-grass/alfalfa) horse hay.On the plus side, sitting and working in the (wood stove) heated shop was nice. And I really enjoyed holding down the recliner by the fire. A tough job,but someone had to do it. :)

We got some rain first and then late yesterday afternoon it put down about three inches of heavy wet snow. Cold out there this morning.

Monday was a WASH OUT here . I was down in the grouch cave tinkering at the bench and turned to get a tool off the table saw and noticed that i was getting FLOODED OUT . THe old basement floor is not level and that are is the low spot and before anything heads for the floor drain that area will be under six inches of water . I had water coming thru the old sand stone everywhere . Pulled the bag nad filter out of the shop vac and started sucking water . Must have raised the Ohio River level a good five inches from what i poured down the floor drain . For awhile there i thought i was going to need the two inch pump . That rain storm dropped us back into the mid sixtys for the day . Yesterday we were back up in the mid eighty's and a low lastnight in the mid sixty's and headed back for the mid eighty's today. You little bout with winter now has me thinking i need to work on the old snow blower while it is still nice out . Last year i had evverything ready to rock and roll and never even used it once as we only had to use the old kitchen broom one time to sweep the sidewalk .

Temps started dropping yesterday with the wind kicking up down here in Dove Creek area. Woke up this morning to mixed snow and rain, mostly rain and 35* at my place. Chance of rain all day.

Steve, that is awful that you got those bales rained on. That sort of front can roll in here anytime, but I expect that it is very rare there in your part of CO.

According to the computer weather right now it is 34 degrees out. Been out driving in the mud and feeding some cows and my fingers and toes are cold. Just checked the rain gauge when I came in and emptied out .7 of water. In places there is about four inches of wet snow.

Good Morning Steve
Glad that you got some rain , sorry that your hay got wet . Is there any way of saving it ? We got 4/10 last evening with a strong wind , Bent my Flag Pole . Will have to replace 2 sections when they come in .
That setting by the stove in the shop , I am well qualified for that , maybe a cup of coffee in hand .

Have a Great Day & enjoy you don t get many of those .

Sorry about your hay. It's still summer down here. 78/95 low/ high temps 70-80% humidity. next few days humidity is "supposed" to drop into the 50/60% range, we will see.

I'll let the sun shine a couple of days. It will be dry enough to stack. A bit discolored though. It will still sell well,on account of hay being short here.
