Just picked this up at auction and was curios if anyone has seen a one of this nature .

I sandblasted it and restored to this color, original color on the inside was gray and the outside may have been red , really couldn't tell as it was severally rusted.

It has a serial number plate with a four digit number that turned up nothing on the internet, there appeared to have been a name plate on the front as there was to unused screws spaced evenly in the middle . thanks

That looks like a nice one! I found lots of videos on chicken pluckers but not that one. Appears that many of them are home made, but yours looks commercially made. Anyway that was a good save on an unusual machine!

Never used or seen one like that. But I can tell you that motor is not in a good position unless there is a cover you have removed. It would get very wet quick.
Also the chicken if not held real tight would fall through. Bad designs made for very little production is my guess.

This isn't even about the real item, but I gotta tell it.

When I was at NAS Atsugi, Japan in the Marine Corps, we had a Gunnery Sergeant in our department who was such a dips**t no one could stand to be around him.

Anyway, a bunch of us were in a bar in Yamata one evening when he walked in. We told all the "jo-sans" (girls) in the bar that his name was "Chickenplucker" and he had a lot of money (takusan okane). You can imagine the results.

I'm going to GUESS that it's made to pluck dry birds. Maybe not even chickens, in some areas plucking waterfowl for hunters is common. I just can't imaging using that thing on scalded birds.

Every outfit has a couple of those guys. I was at NAS Atsugi around 1967. I got a hop to Atsugi from MCAS Iwakuni, Where I was stationed, while in the Navy, to visit Tokyo for a couple days R&R. Lets tell a few more bar stories from Japan. No, maybe we better not. Stan
