One ft. deep and a mile wide!

We went out to Gothenburg Neb. and picked up some tires I bought and crossed the Platt river at Columbus--We've crossed it before it always had water in it but I couldn't believe what I was seeing when we crossed it Thursday so I turned around and the Mrs. took some pics. Looks like a moon scape to me. We are dry in Iowa but Neb. is dryer for the most part. Most of the farmers had their pivots running for they had 100 degree plus temps predicted for this weekend. The crops looked good except where the pivots missed--beans were yellow and the corn was 3 ft. tall and brown.---Tee

My load of tires

Refresh my memory but isn't Columbus pretty close to Leigh NE and Norfolk NE?? Been to many years since I was up that way but we did live in Leigh NE back when I was in grade school

"Foot deep and a mile wide" reminds me of an old joke about 2 eastern European fellows (whose true nationality can't be disclosed because of political correctness concerns) who were landing their plane on an unfamiliar airport. "Hang on", says the pilot, "This airstrip is really short." He just manages to get it landed in one piece, and says "I've never seen such a short airstrip." The other guy looks from side to side, and says, "Yeah- and so wide, too."

Most of the people who drive I-80 believe that 80 is the minimum speed for that stretch of the interstate system.

Did you get close to Lake Mcconaughey? Lots of irrigation systems drink out of part of the river system & it was probably low, due to the drought in the mountains feeding it and the Platte River systems - both North & South.

Hey Big T -- that is nice lode -- should have kept the trailer tires on the pavement--that pair on the back - are them for My old 500? I went on a tractor ride Yesterday and used My Wifes 2N ford -- still miss that 500 Case !!!!! Roy

A couple of years ago, the Platte dried up completely at Columbus.

For a month or two, you could walk across it without getting your feet wet.

Hi Roy--Good for you--I think I going on a ride next weekend. No--The tires in the back go on my 1900 Oliver--It has 18.4 x 34 on it now and this winter I am going to widen the rims and put on the Michelin 600 x 34--The old 23.1 x 34. It looks like it going up hill now.--Thanks Roy---Tee

Detroit power!

Don't know--we took a different route and went south on 81 to York and then took 80 to Gothenburg--I DO Not like driving I-80 so we took 20 all the way across Iowa on the way out.--Thanks---Tee
