fun day, not long

Pretty warm here today, needed to do a little mowing. As the little Kobota BX was easy out ( the Ford was parked in the back) I drove it. Went along fine for the first round, then BANG ran over something! Turned out to be the top link pin worked loose and I ran over it. I could not believe that a mower blade could not only bend a pin but also take a chunk out of it. Well no harm no foul went back to mowing. Got 2/3rds done and time for a break, drove up to the shop and turned the Kubota off NOT!! The darned thing kept running!
Well I do not know much about diesel engines but, I did know it has an electric fuel pump,no problem, took the ground off the battery it should run out of fuel right? Not! I called a dealer he suggested a few things that did not work, one was unplug the fuel pump still runs, I put a hose clamp pliers on the fuel line, still runs! It ran on the trailer 40 miles to the dealership ( they had a bet if it would be running when I got there). One of the mechanics had it stopped in about 10 seconds. An electric solinoid was bad! Oh well a few hundred to fix will have it back next week. Now I have to finish with the Ford. joe, poorer but wiser

They must have changed something on the newer ones. My 88 F-2000 has an electric solenoid that shuts off with the key. It also has a emergency shut off that is cable operated that I have never used (I probably should just to make sure the cable is free).
