The post below about a high priced 8N reminded me of this “restored jubilee” (that’s machinery Pete’s description) that sold for 52k in June 2017. The link in my screenshot won’t click but if ya type it in a browser it’s still on the web. Funny part was the engine would not start, had to be towed out.

Very often the super record price Pete records comes from two siblings that both want a tractor from dad, or a similar situation. They can bid 5x it’s worth, and they get 1/2 the money back from the estate so it only cost thrm double.

My math might ge a little fuzzy, but you get the idea.

Those auctions bring in a lot of people with a lot of money,many can spend $50,000 like a lot of us can spend $50. So when they see something they want they bid get two or three of them there that want the same thing so the price goes way up.
 
It appears to be a Funk conversion with a Ford flathead V-8. But that alone would not explain the $52K bid price. At least two bidders thought it was worth (almost) that much.
