Talking to a fellow the other day and he needs a hydraulic pump for his newish New Holland tractor don't know the year.Claims that NH wants
$7,000 for a new pump or $4,000 for a rebuilt one.Wow!

when I worked at the county we lost a hyd pump on a blade,, this was early 80's that pump was over 5K then,, CAT parts were always high but I would hate to think what they would rake for one today,, parts prices are insane now days, a 7K pump would not surprise me at all,, shop down the road repairs trucks, good friend has a fleet of trucks and has some work done there, they charge 5 to 8K to put on a new turbo,, and 35K to do a engine,, things are nuts, Case CE dealer here charges 550 for a engine oil change,, of course they throw in a 10 point check with that,, they look at the fan belt,, check hyd oil ect,, stuff I do every day on my equipment in a couple min,,,,

The smaller tractors are often hydro driven.

The bigger ones are hydro shifted.

Either way the hydro pump is quite big and the heart of the tractor any more. And expensive.

That's why it's free,it doesn't take much time, but if they see cracks in the fan belt, maybe that will generate more revenue, but i agree things are too expensive now!

No he is exaggerating!! Maybe six years ago I had to get the pump on my 8240SLE replaced. The pump alone was $5300.00. With inflation that could be only a little over $6,000.00

A few years back, New Holland wanted $3000 for a hydraulic pump for a Ford 3000. I think allstates pumps are cheaper.

Anymore the parts get more expensive everytime you go to get something nothing is surprising its not hard to fit 500$ worth of parts in a box smaller than a women with small feets shoebox .

Actual photo of 100$ worth of parts from fiat cnh global plus 20$ freight

Yup, I know for a fact that the main hydraulic pump for a 5XXX series CaseIH Maxxum is in that range.

It's not 1985 anymore. The prices for everything, except the commodities farmers produce, have gone up exponentially.

I deliver filters that are the size of a dime, the envelop they come in fits in my shirt pocket. $1,300.oo for 50 of them.

Im just saying I remember the day when an 8400 was the biggest row crop tractor on the planet and its hard to believe its been 25 years ago . We actually got one of the first one and it was built in 1994
