What does this do???

This small lever next to the seat I'm pointing at, what is it and what does it do? This is on a 1951 Ford 8N. This is my first Ford tractor so I'm just trying to figure this thing out because all my other tractors are Case. And I DO have a service manual ordered for it.

That lever is to switch between position control and draft control for the 3 point hitch.

Up is implement position control (how far off the ground your 3 pt implement is carried). Down is draft control for plowing or tillage tools.

Thanks everyone, I thought it had something to do with the 3pt lift but wasn't sure.

And for most purposes other than plowing, you want to leave it in position control. It may be stuck there, in fact.
