A 69 should have the new style soft plugs and not the old style screw in type.
Most guys install a block heater in the hole just in front of the starter. Tough to get in there but can be done. Napa can get you one but pry out your plug and bring it with you as Ford did use two hole sizes there.
600 watt heater is good. 800 watt if you are always in a hurry.
I like to buy them from the dealer. Most places you get a 6' electric cord. Dealer you get a 1' cord. Costs a couple $ more but easier to tuck away/tie off the 1 footer.
You can use a tank heater too but Too many of the tank type heaters look like the ones below after a while.
