pasture cutting

We have been lucky and have had someone hay our field (upstate NY) once a year, late, for bedding so I have not had to cut the field to keep it open in a number of years.
We have a JD 2040 and a 6' Squealer.

So I have been thinking, if/when I have to cut it again would it speed things up to use some hay equipment, maybe a disc mower or go with a larger bush hog?
In either case the grass would be left on the field to decay over the winter. Farming is disappearing up there so I doubt there is much of a market for the hay if this guy quits taking it.

Thanks,
Bill

Occasionally I use my NI 5209 discbine to top of the pastures. It cuts fast and very smoothly. Make sure you don’t have junk to hit out there as they won’t take a beating like a bush hog type mower.

Watching some 'small farmer' video on youTube about not damaging his sub compact tractor with a pull type discbine I am sure my 2040 is bigger than his sub compact so I should be able to pull one of those, or maybe a wider pull type bush hog.
