But ill make a seedbed out of this mess. Do twisted chisel
points pull a lot harder than say a 16 inch wheat land sweep?

I would think easier since yo move less dirt, as long as depth is the same. But I've never used sweeps.

Never used sweeps on a chisel plow.Though the twisted ones will dig more dirt to work with. In sod will also roll up in gobs and wads. Takes more to pound it down smooth if conditions are not bone dry. We work about 6-10 inches with the chisel plow 16 teeth depending on the tile depth some fields have shallow tile lines in areas. It looks like you're getting there with it. A good heavy disc like a landoll or sunflower would help a lot with your leveling it up. Also with getting more dirt and cutting the trash up.

Good job SV.
Sure looks like it will work up well now.
How hard is that ground on the sweeps?

Do you run sweeps shallow to cut roots like a rowcrop cultivator, or run deep to lift and shatter dry soil?

I may try a set of twisted on the rear 4 shanks . Right now running 2 rows of points to get it in the ground and a row of 16 inch whetland sweeps on the rear to help burry trash . My moldboard plowing days are coming to an end in this part of the country anyway, pretty easy to blow 300$ worth of plow parts in a day when you get in the rocks the trip mechanism on these old ih plows is Ridiculously expensive when it needs parts which is often in the rocks . I csn run a chisel across the same ground 4 times and still be cheaper break one trip spring and a leaf spring on a plow and you just bought another pass across a ten or 15 acres

I've never run sweeps.
Ive run twisted tho left and right twists on a 12 shank 3pnt allied, as was said in sod it will roll up Ribbons (think drill bit ribbons) then i disk it and disk it.. Or pull the JD 4200 4 btm rollover and then disk it and disk it.. Sod is just one of those things that takes a few passes to take care of..

How deep you going??

Looking good, winter wheat later? How's the yellow Dodge doing? Looks like it's a little dry in your part of the world.

Its dry and hotter than hell been a big day today one more will get me close then its back to the ol salt mines wendesday unfortunately. Ol yeller lost an oil cooler gotta limp it buy one more day then get that apart. Been a bit of rough day had 3 rocks get caught in the duals this one i had to beat in to 4 soft balls before it would come out good time at 90 degrees

Going to drill grass seed . Plowed it two years ago then the guy disked it the next spring trying to save money then let it sit for a year and turn into this mess then he sprayed it with liquid cancer this summer why we didnt do it before the weeds were 6 feet tall i dont know should have kept it worked down but i guess he can pay me to do it all over again .

Going sbout 7 inches deep . I cant afford to plow in ground like this anymore . Where there isnt rocks i like to plow then two pases with my power harrow and that makes a nice seedbed out of sod in a big hurry .

I run em deep ro burry trash . I have put sweepe on all three ranks for doing summer fallow work then run about 4 inches deep
