Winco's to the rescue

It looks like 5-7 days yet for us and power.

I have an old Winco 21KW, neighbor drug his dad's 18KW out of the shed, we wired it up and it worked. Not bad for something probably built in the 60s or 70s.

The ford had run solid for 30 hours, I shut it down tonight, has not used a drop of oil. The McCormick had run since Tuesday morning, it was right up on oil too. I checked all the connections and they all feel cool, the genset is hot to the touch, but seems about normal.

I got 140 gallons delivered today so my barrel is full, and can do 2 fill ups a day on the Ford.

My arms ache from hefting up the 5 gallon cans.

I have an old Winpower 25/15. I've only ever used it over a many hour period once, after an ice storm. Ran it overnight with an AC C [not much of a load running the house] I was concerned about running out of gas, but there was fuel to spare in the morning.

I'd like to bring back to life the old Koler 6.5KW unit I have. I had it running back in 2007 when we had the ice storm but not since but it has some wiring problems and should have both 110 and 220 outlets but it only has the 110 ones

Well to start with it has 4 cylinder flat head engine and the generator is also used as the starter for it. I'll try to go look at it tomorrow and see if I can find more info on it

A pump and tank next tractor and no lifting and no cans. Problem solved. Most farmers have a transport tank around here for fueling equipment in the field. And most of those have 12v pumps on them.

When hurricane Fran came thru we were without power for 11 days I had a motor home hooked to the house everyone in the neighborhood asked me to hook up to there freezer a few hours a day in the end we all lost what we had. My mistake I did not leave the gen running all night long on my house. From that point on my gen stays on my house and running, in a few months gens will be cheap in your area...

Hurricane Florence in 2018 sold a bunch of generators truck load after truck load came by my house headed to Lowe's. That's when I set out to build a gen set for my house set up to run off of NG.

I've been thinking about this and not sure how or whether to proceed with the idea. Our power came back on Wednesday night about 10pm. I have a 8000 watt portable and a 25K pto generator just setting here. I'm sure someone in your area could use them right now, how would I go about getting them to someone to use till the power comes back on?? How to make sure I get them back when they are done with them?? I'm across the river from Muscatine, probably 2 hours away from you. Any ideas?? Email is open. Chris

Some people pay for a gym membership to get that same feeling. Just think about the money you are saving. Hope your power comes on soon. A long term outage like this sure puts a lot of stress on the utility crews I hope they all stay safe.

In today's world. Don't loan them to anyone. I made that mistake once. The guy tried to sue me for damage he caused.By doing the very thing I told him not to do.

I'm about 30 miles from the Winco factory in Le Center. MN. I've never checked so maybe that isn't their only factory - anyone know?

Also I'm not sure if they still manufacture anything there as there aren't many cars around anytime I've driven by there.

I'm about 25 miles from the Katolight factory in Mankato, MN

I just looked at it to get numbers which where hard to read. Model number appears to be 5080A. I could not read the serial number but it sits in a building with no light and my head lite did not help me much. I'd love to get it back up and running again and also wired up correctly. It has a 4 outlet box on one end and I think that maybe how some one rigged it up. Plus last time I did try to start it when I hit the start switch it did nothing
