Fire extinguishers

I own a Kubota B7610. Wife and I like it, fits our small needs very well.

While I've had no need for one, I can see a value having a fire extinguisher nearby/mounted on the tractor.

I live in north central Illinois.
Any recommendations on the type/size of a device that will not freeze in the unheated pole barn during winter.

I agree with Ken except I’d get a 5 lbs. Especially if your tractor’s hood & fenders are made of plastic. In addition, if you’re experienced using fire extinguishers, disregard the rest of this post, if not read on. IMHO, learning how to use a fire extinguisher in an emergency is the wrong time for training. if you have little to no experience using a Fire extinguisher, take a class or at least light a fire wait 30 seconds to a full minute and put the fire out. It will be worth the cost to recharge the extinguisher. Also, periodically hold the fire extinguisher upside down and gently tap it with a rubber mallet to loosen the powder.
 
Your local fire service should be more than willing to help you with training. They should have all the equipment and will likely supply an
extinguisher and give invaluable advice. As an aside, if you ever have a fire, it is always a good idea to have the fire department come out
and check things even if you extinguish it. Again, their knowledge far exceeds ours and if they foam the site you will feel much safer at
the lower risk of reignite.
 
As a career firefighter I agree with haveing a 5# ABC on the tractor. I have one mounted on mine and check it every time I use the tractor. Also if you do get one, every week or so, take it off and turn it upside down a couple of times, and hold next to your ear, listen for the powder to shift, you will also feel it. The vibration of the tractor will pack the powder and you will not get all of the powder out of it when you need it.
