Will ABS yellow glue hold white PVC joints?

It's not recommended.

Never tried.

It might work, what are the consequences if it fails?

I would call it iffy, and who wants that? You can get glue that you can use on both. The purple is just a cleaner.

Why play chemist. PVC cement is readily available. The ABS glue is made for ABS plastic, a completely different animal.

NO. NO. NO. I worked on a job where they used ABS glue on PVC. There were many blowouts. They blamed too much pressure but nothing blew out where PVC glue was used.
