Follow up to l245h hydraulic fluid in oil

Thanks jm for confirming about the pump. I got all the seals and o rings from kubota and put them in the pump. I am now getting a binding condition when i put the back cover of the pump on. Everything is clean and i took it apart three times to double check that no orings slipped off and became pinched. It only binds when i tighten the cover. I can still spin the pump with a small wrench just not by hand. Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks Brad

Four things are often the cause of binding like that. (one or more) #1 real small chunk of old gasket/or crud. #2 Torquing the housing bolts unevenly. #3 Gears not
clocked with each other. #4 component installed flipped upside down.
Alignment pins in different holes can also make small binding interference. Does it turn freely as you evenly snug up the screws, then right at the end get stiff?
A driven gear put in end for end can also do it. Some are symmetrical. Jim

It happens right at the end, no alignment pins. It could be components moved from side to side but i tried to be carefull to keep everything the same. All of the components can only go in one way. Thanks for the ideas.

Were there any thin paper or plastic shims (gaskets) under the cover?

Most pumps use shims to set the end clearance, and they are a specific thickness or a stack of thin shims to get it right.

If no shims, be sure everything is thoroughly clean. Try gently snugging the bolts until it binds, tap the end of the shaft, the sides of the cover and housing with a soft hammer, continue to snug and tap.

If it is still in a bind, find the cause, don't assume it will loosen up when run, it likely wont.

Had a similar problem with a new water pump on a 7.3
diesel.the manufacturer hadn’t seated the impellers deep
enough.it would only bind when the bolts were tightened.i
agree don’t assume it’ll loosen up on its own!
