Got to thinking today, I can't remember his name but haven't seen anything from him in ages!
He was a dry land farmer, Had his house burn down, always used older tractors and equipment.
He used to play the guitar and would sing so we could watch. Not sure what state he was
from? He also was quite good about G M trucks and knew his way around hydramatic
transmissions! Does any of this bring back memories ?? Jim in N.M.

Delta had his computer go down on him and was slow to replace it due to budget. Allen in Nebraska had the house burn down and last I knew he had rebuilt. Had mostly IH equipment. He was on the older side ( > 70) so you just don't know how much time a fellow has left at that point. I believe that he used to post on Red Power but don't believe he used the same handle as here.

I was thinking about him today. No Lie. A bunch of us sent him cash to help rebuild and then he kinda disappeared. Hope he is ok. Bill

That was Allen in NE. Should I recall correctly, after the house fire, they ended up rebuilding, but not in the exact same spot. Was real close to the old house & didn't have the best internet reception.

That's just what's left of my memory tellin' me, anyhow.

Mike

I think the nearest town was North Platte, Nebraska. He said that some of his fields has old buffalo wallows

I think Allen got in trouble here with the site owners, banned maybe ?
I remember him posting updates on the house they redid after the fire.
Traded his 2wd 5488 for a front wheel assist Massey Ferguson.

So far no one got it exactly right. He spelled his first name Allan not Allen. He was from near Chadron in far north west Nebraska.

It was Allan from Nebraska for sure. The best automatic transmission man. Liked his red tractors and would fix them himself. He was a mechanic all his life and played the guitar i think. Miss the guy for his knowledge.

Allan was here a lot. seams like not too long ago, but I'll bet it has been 8-10 years by now. He made some recordings and sang them here with his guitar. I also remember when his house burned down. Not much from him after that, like others have said. Stan

Bill posts fairly often on Agtalk, but not as regularly as he once did on here. If I recall correctly he got married a few years ago so that likely greatly reduced his 'puter time.

He posts quite a bit on Red Power. Perhaps he felt that things had run their course here. It happens on all talk sites.

I checked Archives here for Allan in NE. He has posts that stretch over pages 180 to 206 when using the poster's "handle". I randomly opened a couple and they were dated 2004 and 2008.

Yep, Allan. I also sent him a check to get back on his feet. Then I was a little disappointed to see one of the first items in his almost completed new living room was a 52 inch big screen hanging on the wall. LOL

Gordo, I am glad to help out a person who has some bad luck, but I don't remember seeing a thank you from him unless I missed it. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

The thank you I got was his generic blanket "thank you to everyone who helped out" that
he posted on this site.

He thanked everyone here from the bottom of his heart. That's the way he worded it. And that was the one I saw. He may have posted other thank yous. I always considered
him a real good guy. But, I think he ran into problems with the website management.

Yes Allan from Nebraska, House burnt that was quite a ways from his farm that had an old house on it that needed a lot of repair. He also had a side bussiness with computors and internet requirements were quite heavy. He rebuilt the old house at the farm. But I also having him asking posters on here NOT to send and money but a lot of posters did not listen. That is when he left.
