Cool! Thinking that was probably built
without "cad" drawings, power miter saws
and nail guns. All those construction
skills, or at least a lot of them, have
probably been lost forever. Maybe the
Amish still haven't lost them.

There does not appear to be a cap on the ridges. I would think that the courses lap back and forth going up the ridge making a dove tail effect with the edge of
the shingle at the ridge or hip, what ever you might want to call them. times how many. A few years back working with a carpenter and tearing into the framing of
an old cove ceiling, the carpenter noted the workmanship of the cut frame members. He stated that back when the original work was done a man s time wasn t worth
so much. I suppose it is all relative.

(quoted from post at 18:55:12 07/17/20) Can you show a picture of the inside? OR email me a picture

Virtually 100% of the pics I post come off the web; most usually from a search engine image search or from Pinterest. To gather and keep track of info on every pic would make this a full-time job.

Sorry, can't help with an inside view.

Looks like they finally did get the cupola replaced. Wonderful to hear how the barn came to be and how it worked and lived and sheltered the many farm lives.

AWESOME!! Thank you!
