Rain rain rain. Second crop is getting badly overripe. Guessers are saying rain all next week. Guess I will definitely make it rain.

wow
hadn't seen one of those for a while.

i worked on some of the 1st prototypes when i was a Test Engineer at Gehl

I have a backup plan. My neighbor square bales, and I have a round baler if he breaks down. Wet wrapped big squares sell better then wet wrapped rounds. It is often a $50 difference per ton.

8/10 of an inch so far. It is not wilted yet, so the quality should still be there. They predict rain all day today, but clear the next 4. Should be able to bring it in in good shape

Incase,

It has been a good unit. I have had it four years with hardly a breakdown. Lotta 2412 2345 2365 around here. The 2345s jumped in price this year. I have seen several sell north of 5k. I think the Amish are buying them along with 5209s to pull with horses.

The pricing makes NO sense. Gehl got out of the farm equipment business over a decade ago now. Where does anyone get parts?

These things should be worth $30/ton same as scrap. Anything breaks, and the thing is a giant paperweight.

Would you hurry up and get done so I can make some nice dry hay and start rye. I have one neighbor that I get real nervous when I have hay down and he mows his. Also is the seed cleaner ready to go yet? I would like to maybe cut the middle of next week. Tom

(quoted from post at 07:47:55 07/15/20) That should do it! I hope I don't jinx you
but it will for sure rain if you get about
half of it bailed and the bailer goes down
with clouds rolling in.

2.2 inches was todays total. I am hoping the guessers forecast holds

Oops. Meant to 1.2 inches

I cut some last Friday and we hot 1.25
inches Saturday. There was only a 30%
chance so I guess I made it rain!

We baled sm squares today in SE Il. Grandson started raking by 6:30. Alfalfa mowed monday was to dry Tuesday afternoon. So raked it with the dew on. He ran the rake to fast across a washout. Bent the loopes on rake and broke and bent at least 6 teeth. Took about 2 hours to fix. Then baler swarmed, had a big knot of wire caught on bill hook? Then broke a shear bolt in needle's. Plus the one in flywheel. Rebaling the bales it didn't tye. Then I really screwed it up. I didnt have a bolt for needles. So used a longer one. Put 2 larger nuts on it for spacers. Next time it tried to tie. Bolt and nuts caught the 3/4 rod pulling the needles. Bent it into a U. Bad deal. But plunger stop worked. Got it going in about 2 more hrs. Bottom line finally got 15 acres of second cutting alfalfa baled and under cover by 8. Rained around 9. Power has gone off 3 times. Nothing went right. But thank God no one got hurt!.

i did my part yesterday to make it rain hay was almost dry enough to bale we have had almost 2 inches of rain since last night started about
10?

Gehlo Disc-bine cutter bars are Kuhn so those parts should be available although maybe indirectly
