Got up early and took our son to get his driver's license. The virus has put that on hold for months..... He did his driver's road test and got a tire in the grass on his 3 point turn. Failed. Grrr. Oh well try again next Tue. Got home and ran the weed eater for a couple hours. Fixed a few holes in the fender of the ford 951. Welded the exhaust pipe together on it also. Worked on solving the sickle mower issues. UPS finally came and got my cub starter and 951 water pump. Got the starter on, but cub is blocked in by the 951. Got the water pump on but old fan bolts are too big. By then it was too late to run to town. Will finish up later. My wife worked on the black bean harvest. Got 2 out of 3 rows done. She sat in the air conditioning and watched movies while shelling the beans. Looks like 10+ lbs.

I give....what is a 3 pt turn? I passed my parallel parking first time......Phew; I sweated that part of the test in preparing, but lucked out. I was 14.

Never heard of that 3 point turn here in Ohio. Sounds like something that is illeagle here. But that parallell parking I never had a problem when I took my tests. First when I was 16, then when I was 18 for the choufrs licence that I never used And I don't remember if it was icluded when I took my CDL test, just missed a deadline by to days to get grandfathered in from that choffers licence. Turned in my CDL when I hit 62

I remember having to be able to make a three point turn in drivers ed. but don't remember being tested as such, neither does my wife.

When I was in drivers ed many years ago I attempted the 3 point turn and got close to the edge of the road. The car would roll toward the ditch if I took my foot off the brake. The car was a manual, 3 on the tree, the instructor said to let the clutch out till I could feel it grab alittle then let off the brake and give it some gas. Well you also need to put it in reverse, so down in the ditch I went much to the delight of a couple of class mates in the back seat. I stop shaking after some time and slowly drove up out of the ditch.

May be, but in my part of KS a bootleggers turn is best done on sand. You drive medium speed in the right lane then suddenly crank the wheel to the left hard and romp the gas. The back end fishtails around and if done correctly you are pointed the other way and still moving forward. Tons of fun to do with someone else's car. Last time I idd it with my own car the tubeless tires on the rear (both of them) broke the beads and went flat. I was DRT - dead right there. Prolly not what they want to see on the driving test.

Tell your son not to feel to bad about it. I failed for speeding the first time! Lol I think I was doing 40 in a 35 zone. Of course no speed signs on the test route. I got it right on the second go round.

Stay safe

My Dad needed me to drive truck, so the test was scheduled about a week after I turned 16 and got my permit. The examiner was vocal about my short experience and I failed. On the next test my Dad hopped in the back seat and I passed with no points taken off. The next day I started delivering milk. That was 65 years ago and I have a million mile safe driving award.

Interesting. I don't think 3 point turns are being taught here. They do have to parallel park and many fail (you can tell who failed if you watch on main street)
I taught both of my granddaughters how to parallel park and they passed the first time.
