Farmstead picture

My brother and I have a remodeling
company. One of our repeat customers is a
regional Ag chemical dealer that also does
a fair bit of farming. This week I'm
installing siding on one of their
farmhouses. I was up on the scaffolding,
looking out at the farm, thinking I bet it
was a nice operation in its day. Has to be
around 200 acres of nice ground,
surrounded by other 200 acre farms and no
extra, random houses, (that's a rare thing
here in Maryland anymore). The buildings
have been maintained nicely. This area had
lots of dairy farms this size in the 60s
and 70s. Very few dairys around now.

Im glad this outfit owns it. They gutted
and rebuilt the house, it'll be first
class when done. They have the manpower
and funds to maintain the ground. Rather
see them get it then it go to houses or
warehouses.

Anyway, just wanted to share some
pictures of the good side of Maryland...src="https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/cvphotos/cvphoto50430.jpg">

Beautiful farm, looks like foothills of the Blue Ridge in the distance. Anywhere near Carroll County? That's where I am.

This is south of Frederick, on rt85,
looking north towards Frederick. We were
watching that rain yesterday blow on by.
Cross the mountains on the left side in
the picture of the field and you're into
Jefferson/Middletown area.

All of that area is really pretty farmland. I drive through there sometimes to take the back roads to Frederick.

Also saw the storm whipping up yesterday, thought for sure it would bring some rain. Just ruffled the trees a little and dropped the temps. Made for a cool evening.

I dont know but it is LONG for a cow barn.
That's what first caught my attention.
Looks like it was extended at least one
time.

Can you still take semi's down US-15 to cross the Potomac river yet? There used to be a very sharp corner right at the river had plenty of room if you took the time to watch the traffic and swung wide. It worked good for slipping by the scales and entering Virginia. Bypassed all that traffic closer to DC and saved all the nonsense going down I-81.

We used to have scenery like that here in Iowa, but now all we can see is acres and acres and mile after mile of wind turbines.

I feel so much better with the geography being talked about. Thanks. Beautiful country. I traveled in the Annapolis to Salisbury area on a business trip many years ago and tend to forget all of the areas north and west of DC. Maryland has quite a unique border.

I dont know, I never get down that far on 15. Seems like its always under construction down that way though so I bet it's a better road now.
