Custom baling

Figuring the cost of fuel, twine and equipment, that is a fare sounding price to drop them on the
ground. Putting them in someone's hay mow that's gonna call for more in my book. I don't do
custom baling at all.

$5.25 if the stand is fairly strong. If not I charge by the hour for the equipment and operator.

Many land grant universities publish yearly a custom rate schedule for all kinds of custom work. I know ours does. Check with your state university.

$5.25 per bale for small sq baling?????? WOW

We have a strong haymaker's cartel here, LOL.

(quoted from post at 22:50:21 07/12/20) Rates what do you charge to cut rake and bale little bales 60 pound bales ?

There is ZERO demand for custom baling small squares around here. First, almost everyone has a baler sitting in the shed that has not been used in 10 years. If they do not have one, they have a neighbor who does.

I am going to small square 400 bales this coming week for some neighbors with horses. I cut rake and bale my own ground and will be getting $5 a bale. That is a premium price, because small squares often bring $3.50-5 a bale at the hay auction.

25.00 to cut/swath;12.00 acre to rake;1.00 BALE;1.00 to pick/stack with NH #1032 stackwagon.25 bale per acre minimum to bale and stack. However,I quit custom stacking this year.I also have a $100.00 minimum per operation to cover the little 1-2 acre guys.Dont do 'shares',cash(or good check) only...For shares, got to have 2/3 on average hay. You can get by with half-5/8 on exceptional hay, poor hay you need more. As said,no more 'shares' for me,I usually get screwed. It's usually the guy with poor hay(and no money) who want you to do shares. They can find someone else.Western Colorado.

I bale hay and my son sells it. I will not deal with some persnickity horse person who wants cadilac hay at Ford fiesta prices. Life is too short to add that kind of frustration to my life. gobble

Yep,top quality for poor/mediocre price. Nope. wont hapoen. Or the ones that say the guy down the road is a dollar a bale cheaper. In that case,I have no hay for sale. go buy it from him.....Female 'horse people' with one or two horses are the worse.

well we are $18/acre to cut
$4 acre to rake, same price weather its merged 2 to 1 with big rakes for big baler or just flipped with little rake for little baler..
Im charging $.55 a bale for 14x18X40 55lb average.
If I stack em, I use a NH 1044 and its $0.55 a bale 132 bales a load.
Or $12 a bale to bale 3x4x8

Hope this helps

Thanks everyone for the replies . I like the 2.00$ per bale figure that seems like that would work about right for the small fields I’ve been doing anyway unless it’s really a poor crop
