The wind mill guys were moving a big crain across my boys wheat field and did not make it.
a video before and after, I missed the good part, my boy watched it go down.
500 ton down

Had one like that go over at a site in SE SD spring of 2019. Took them a couple of weeks to get it upright. It was a really wet spring but they thought they would "float" across a wet spot, landowner told them there was no bottom, but the bosses didn't believe him, even though he was 4th generation land owner.

R..... That being a newly new multi-million dollar lifting device.... You can bet the contractor will salvage every piece, part, nut, and bot out of the field. I'm sure they work under a clause to return the owners property to the condition it was in previously in.

One was lost here some years ago when it tipped over as they tried to move to the next turbine. Takes a full day to dissemble, move a couple hundred yards and another full day to re assemble, making a half day traverse look pretty cheap....til it tips. The one here was pretty well all scrapped.

On a slightly different topic, several years ago, there was a wind turbine that fell down a few miles from me. It wasn't from severe weather, it wasn't hit by lighting and there wasn't a blade malfunction. It just fell down for some reason. The locals said that it was harmonics from some bad Chinese bearings. I know the odds of that happening are small, but after seeing that, I'm curious how they can get people to work on or in them.
She went down, captain...

They were widening the road by my house and had to cut into the hill. solid rock. The supervisor said they were going to bring in a jack hammer on an excavator. I told him good luck that rock is not your normal limestone it's crystalized. He had them come in with a drill and explosives after that, but they didn't use enough. Legal reasons. They broke it up a little, the size of a vw. Still took them a week with the excavator and hammer I can still hear that thing.
