International 1086 digital dash center

I recently bought a Int 1086...serial number shows it to be a 1978. It has a digital dash center that has a switch that will move around to RPM, MPH, 540 PTO and 1000PTO. What I have read so far is there is an older version and a newer touch screen data center that was put on these tractors.

I am not getting any lights out of the data center....I replaced all of the fuses in the kick out panel and found the inline fuse and replaced it. All of the wires seem in good shape and traced from the harness that plugs in to the data center down to the fuse panel.

In looking at the harness....the are several numbers on both the harness and the back of data center. But not sure what number represents what.

Once I replaced the fuses...the gauges on the other side of the dash began to work.....Oil Pressure gauge....voltgage gauge....temp gauge...gas gauge is not working the needle just sits there and shakes on the E side of the gauge.

I have not pulled out the RPM transcender yet to see if it is dirty..but I am assuming..if wires are good..fuses are now good...tractor fire up and have power to my radio...ac fan unit..windshield wiper, horn....then would I then assume the data center is just bad? Is there a way to check it out or a better way to determine which part of the harness is to be hot or not?

Fairly new in getting back into farming....so my terminology may not be spot on..but any ideas or questions and I will respond.

Those electronic dashboards are troublesome.

There's one or more independent places that rebuild them.

There's a popular place, I believe in Iowa, that comes up here quite often, but I can't think of the company name at the moment, I'm sure someone will stop by with that info.

The power for the digital tach Comes from an oil pressure operated switch on the right rear side of the engine just ahead of the cab. Long ago I bypassed that switch because it is troublesome. When I bypassed it I had to trace the live power wire To its source and run it to a switched power source. The power wire to the oil pressure operated switch was live hot full time, that is why I changed it to switched power. The later models were all powered by switched power. Its been so long ago I dont remember where the power wire connects but it is not too hard to figure out.

My FIL has sent digital gauge clusters to Ag-Express in Nebraska for repair and per their website they also have a facility in Des Moines. This might be the place you're thinking of.

I too have had trouble this the oil pressure switch that controls power to the tachometer. You can get a replacement one from Napa reasonable. The switch is located to the rear of the oil filters. The Napa numbers OP6624 or OP6616 the only difference is the legnth of the total unit I prefer the OP6624 it's the shorter one, it fits a little better with less chance of getting bumped by the hydraulic hose for the loader
