Cayuga lake looking south from the north end. Fingerlakes region in UPSTATE New York.

I'm told the fill for the bridge altered the natural flow of the lake causing the north end to silt in. Never was deep anyway.

Only a mile or so from my house! Was a nice afternoon for a trip. Did you fly out locally? Always like going to Whitfords in Weedsport to watch the planes.

On the other hand is Skaneateles Lake. Coldest water south of the Arctic Circle! Also very deep. Navy divers have charted areas to over 400 feet, and still haven't found the entire bottom of that lake.

Seneca Lake is over 600 feet deep in many areas. One of the reasons both the Army and Navy had bases adjoining that lake.

Pretty part of NYS! Lot more to the state than NYC and Long Island. Then on second thought NYC and Long Island are NOT really NYS!

Ice enough area that Mrs B&D and myself vacation there every other year . Been there at least 9 times and there still is something more to see and do .
We do return to Monicas Pies and the Twisted Rail Micro Brewery/Restaurant as favourites .
