Tired of mowing dirt

The inner show on my mower could go one hole down but the
outer sole I had to modify to get just a bit more height out of it

Some of the sickle bars had an adjustment to change the pitch so the rock guards don't point downward but straight or even point skyward considerably. Yours may have that adjustment. It will be almost the same as raising the outer shoe. changing the pitch will eliminate nearly all of the dirt the mower would otherwise pick up.

What's that silver thing in upper right corner of second picture that says Route US 66?
Wife and I went on a two week vacation down Rt 66 back spring of 2013. All except about 20 miles of Rt 66 from the Lake front in Chicago to Bolingbrook, Ill. Wife had planned it for years. Many books written on what all there is to see. Saw the "Flatbed Ford in Winslow, Az." The low point of the whole trip was downtown Los Angeles on Easter Sunday morning. I would NOT get out of the car on Rodeo Drive, kinda scuzzy area. We never stopped and got out of the car, I'd wanted to go for a walk on the beach with our puppy but when I saw the "No dogs allowed" and dozens and dozens of locals with dogs I just told the wife to navigate us to heck out there!

Looks like you made a piece of modern art:

"Black-billed grass-eating bird"

Looks good, should work out well.

The Massey Harris mower that we had when I used to mow 180A of alfalfa 3X a summer had a couple of bar adjustments. It let you tilt the sicle guards' nose up or down. Both the inner & outer shoes also had adjustment holes at the back of the shoe as well. This adjustment moved the whole bar up or down. BTW, welding a chunk of an old leaf spring to the bottom of a mower shoe really extends it's useful life.

Thanks, you have given me an idea. I want to raise up a little the cutting height of my sickle bar.

I’m not much of welder but I can usually make it hold . Should have cranked up the Miller but I used the little wire welder

I’m hoping it will help prolong the Life of the sections and
guards . No need to scalp the crop that close wouldn’t mind
getting it even a bit higher for triticale so it could sit up on the
stubble to help dry it down

That’s a hat my dad brought home him and my mom have been on Route 66 a few times on vacation. I’ve also seen the flatbed ford in Winslow Arizona but not the girl dang it . I always feel live I just got home when I get to the southwest .if about 2/3 of the people in California weren’t there it would be a pretty neat place but if they weren’t there they’d be here and everywhere else . some of the prettiest country there is just can’t see it for the people and the Prius’
