Kubota hydraulic fluid.

Hydrostat or gear drive?

Do not use cheap tractor fluid in anything with a HST transmission.

I use Kubota SUDT2 (the expensive stuff) in all 5 of my Kubotas.

How much did you pay for the tractor? How much is a transmission rebuild? How much is the UDT oil?

When a tractor doesn't have any exotic mechanisms or materials inside, just a dumb gear driven tractor, I have no qualms about recommending the cheap oil. When you get into powershifts and hydrostats, the cost to fix them will buy a LOT of the expensive oil.

I am totally on board with Dean. Use the Kubota UDT. Both my Kubotas get the dealer oil. It's made by Valvoline if you want to try to cross reference it. I only use the cheap stuff if I have an oldster like the '75 backhoe.

Be certain to change the HST filter. Use a quality filter. I always use Kubota filters and oils but my Kubota dealer is within 5 miles. Some folks convert Kubota filter numbers to Wix numbers but be certain that the conversion number is correct if you do.

Not certain about your model but some Kubota HST models have suction strainers. Be certain to remove and clean yours if it has one.

I don’t have any Kubota equipment but everything I do have gets factory lubricants and filters. This would also include engine oil and filters. Both John Deere and CASEIH. Age of equipment doesn’t matter.

If you use regular trans/hydraulic fluid in kubotas you will be getting a new transmission I bet right now you got the wrong oil in it thats why its foaming you probably already have done some damage to your transmission

In an older model with a gear transmission you might be able to get away with another fluid but with HST do not stray from the UDT/UDT2. At least it is only 6.5 gallons. $100 for 5 gallons at Messicks online. For the transmission and front differentials, use your choice of fluids.

I was going to swap to WIX filters on my M7060. Kubota filters were like $100 for the pair vs $20 for WIX (just hydraulic filters). When I examined the WIX photos I noticed that they did not have magnets on them to collect debris like the OEM filters. Now I am strictly staying with Kubota filters on my Kubota equipment. I highly recommend getting parts and filters from Messicks as they have about the best prices and super fast shipping (1-2 days here in Ohio). All the parts diagrams are on their website and for me I also have IH, Ford and New Holland equipment. They carry all of these brands making it a one stop shop for me...

Dave I am a little bias as being a KUBOTA dealer for years BUT in that tractor having the hydrostat you sure need to stay with the KUBOTA fluid. I have seen several over the years fail when the customer used off brand fluid.

There's another approved fluid in Canada called premium udt, its a synthetic, works better in the cold. I'll be honest I haven't followed the ridiculous 50 hour engine oil change interval or the 500 hour or whatever fluid change schedule on our 50 hp hydrostatic Kubota because it was getting 500 hours a year and took like 1800$ of filter/fluids following the schedule that first year. Engine oil/filter we do every 200-250 hours now. Hydro oil we have changed it every 1500 hours and saved the old fluid for use in our older tractors. Kubota hydrostatic filters every 500 hours. Kubota engine filter actually really cheap when you get the "tall" optional filter. I suspect the short intervals based on homeowner use as the bigger kubotas have normal ag type schedules.
