roofers were out, did the tear off monday, re decked the roof and have paper on. shingles will go on tomorrow. once that is done , siding next. heres
some pics. and for jon f , there is one of those case tractors he talks about. isnt yhat some kind of off brand jon.? just kidding.

Why didn't you go with standing seam metal? Will last for 200+ years. The roof is the most important part of your building.

bill, im 63, if the roof makes 20 years, i will prolly be long gone, my daughter can worry about it, she is an architect . i had a quote to do metal roof and also the ends of the old corn crib, it was 19,800.00

24x36 garage, tin on 2x4 nailers, screwed down, $4200 yesterday. materials and labor. They say 40 year paint on tin, I'm 74 and expect it to out last me and maybe the kids.

I know metal has gone up but WOW! 20G for that seems real high? We had standing seem put on our house and garage 2 years ago, pretty complicated job with lots of valleys and a porch on backside plus a 24x30 detached garage not visible in the picture. They removed old standing seem and wood shingles underneath and hauled it away, total was 18K.

Glad to see people fixing up these older buildings,lots of good use left in them for a fraction of replacement cost.To many folks worried about there tax on the old shed to fix it up.

bill, i called 6 contractors for quotes. told them up front it is a business to business transaction, i will need a w9 for taxes and a copy of proof of insurance. 3 responded. one to tin everything for the 19 k, one could not provide a w9 or proof of insurance or a written contract and wanted 5k down in cash, i went with the 3 rd guy. its difficult here to find a decent stand up honest contractor .

I got a new roof on my shop a couple weeks ago. It is about the same size as yours. They had it stripped in an hour and a half. The whole job took them seven hours. The company owner mis-estimated the pitch, so his brother had to go find six more bundles. That saved me $600.00.

Nice job saving an old building. Cant wait to see the finished shed. I like the look of shingles and I think it will look great on that building.
