I once fixed a Torino that had the caliper's piston wear through the material on one side of the rotor, pop out and wedge into the remaining ventilation channels. It came in on a wrecker, after leaving a skid mark 175 feet long. Jim

Dated a gal when I was a teen. She had a car with drums all the way around. I drove it one day and the fronts were metal to metal. Told her she needed quit driving it and get it fixed. She only stopped driving when the front end started clanging loudly. The front drums wore completely through and there was a ring of brake drum bouncing as she drove it...

When I worked at the VW dealer years ago we had a Karmann Ghia come in for brake work, the left front caliper was siezed and wore the disc down until it was gripping a disc completely free of the hub. The owners occupation? School bus driver!
