Haven't used the JD M much in the last couple of years so I got it out of the shed this afternoon and hooked on to the old wheel rake. Only had a few acres to do on a sloping meadow, steep enough to make the old girl's exhaust "crack" on the uphill. Could have had something to do with the fact that it was ninety in the shade and we were in full sun but, for the first time since the full restoration ten years ago, the temp went up to 230. It held steady for the couple of hours it took to finish up or I would have stopped. I've raked that field with it before and the temp always leveled out at 200. Guess I'll pull the grill of and blow out the radiator before I take it to the field again.

On our drive yesterday we say a cabbed JD tractor, dual on one side, in the road ditch. When we got to it it was pulling a side rake. I didn’t catch the model, but it
looked like a. 150+ hp tractor.

It was pulling an old style 4 wheel, steel wheel, side rake through the road ditches raking hay.

Just looked funny.

I understand use what you have, I’ve done such stuff too.

But it was sure an odd looking combination for the situation.
